Scott Storch recently had some harsh words for The Roots. The super producer claimed the legendary group were “haters” after he began working with Dr. Dre. Storch was a member of The Roots band from 1993 to 1995 and contributed to several albums after his departure Appearing on Patrick Bet-David’s podcast, he took aim the the Philadelphia rap legends, “I started in The Roots and did a lot of the stuff for them, very underappreciated. I was the guy who, again, came up with a lot of the nucleus of what that shit was,” Storch recalled. “And I left the group and was told that I was, like, the Pete Best of The Roots. You know, Pete Best is the guy that quit The Beatles.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Art Of Dialogue (@theartofdialogue) “Even my girlfriend broke up with me and said, ‘Oh, you f**ked up’ and this and that. I was like, ‘No, I didn’t. I see bigger.’ I’m not gonna go on the road with a bunch of guys that don’t appreciate me and be like, ‘That’s the white guy who plays keys in The Roots.’ I’m the fucking guy coming up with all the sh*t,” he continued. “In fact, they called me the white devil.” Storch also shared he tried to help DMX kick his drug habit while he struggled with his own demons. It was like the blind leading the blind. I’m a coke addict and he’s a crack addict, and I’m trying to help him. I’m like, ‘[Snorts coke] you really need to get clean, man.’ What the fuck? I’m like, ‘You need to go to rehab.’ “So I convinced him to avoid a jail sentence for a charge he had or whatever. He went to rehab and was getting his shit together at a place where I had gone, but it didn’t really work for me. I had him there, I really did care about him, I wanted him off that shit. That was a faster suicide than I was even on.”
Brandy Says Filming ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’ Was ‘Taxing’
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was Brandy’s first feature film and one of the biggest movies of 1998. But the renowned vocalist did not have the best experience during filming. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Brandy said she “didn’t have the best experience” making the film “because of the weather and all of that.” The movie was filmed at several locations in Los Angeles and Jalisco, Mexico, to mimic the Bahamas. “We were in a space where… it was just bugs and this and that. I’m like, ‘We gotta film this somewhere else,” Brandy said. Playing Julie’s (Jennifer Love Hewitt) college friend Karla Wilson, Brandy’s character survived the events to the end of the film, which “was by design.” “That was in the contract,” Brandy said. “Black people don’t last in horror films, so I had to put that in the contract.” Brandy said she was eager to do the film because she wanted to cuss in a movie. “The reason why I wanted to do I Still Know What You Did Last Summer is because I wanted to curse in a film,” she explained. In addition to remembering the film, it was recently announced that Brandy & Monica will be co-headlining their first tour together. The 24-city arena tour, produced by Black Promoters Collective, “brings two of R&B’s most influential voices together on stage more than 25 years after their era-defining duet “The Boy Is Mine” ruled the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 straight weeks.” Brandy & Monica will be joined by Kelly Rowland, Muni Long, and rising star Jamal Roberts as supporting acts.
Tina Knowles Shares Heartwarming Post Of Young Beyoncé
On Saturday (June 28), Tina Knowles strolled down memory lane, taking to Instagram, recalling Beyoncé’s first beauty pageant. In the photo, we spot a very young Beyoncé, sporting a beautiful pastel pink dress with a microphone in hand. “I came across this post today and it reminded me of this day, which I speak about in my book, Matriarch,” she writes. “Johnny and I finished this dress the morning of the pageant. My sister Selena hemmed it in the car while I drove to the venue.” Tina admitted that once they arrived at the pageant and saw the competition, she wasn’t sure that Beyoncé would make the cut. “When we got there, there were tons of beautiful formal gowns that these little girls had on who had been training all of their lives for this moment. Beyoncé had never competed before, so I was like, I just knew she didn’t have a chance for anything…” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tina Knowles (@mstinaknowles) However, the Cowboy Carter singer was able to wow the judges with her charismatic performance and ultimately took home the trophy. “Lo and behold, she won everything she won for this best dress, also, that I got the fabric for two days before this homemade dress. I crimped her hair, and she wowed the judges. The story in the book goes into detail of how funny that day was. You should read the book,” she added. Earlier this year, Tina Knowles dropped off her memoir, Matriarch. Throughout the nearly 432-page book, Knowles recalls life lessons, the impact her mother had on her parenting style, history, and more. A few months back, Tina sat down with Michelle Obama to discuss the book in more detail amid her book tour. Despite her fierceness, Tina Knowles revealed to the former first lady she had second thoughts about the reception of her memoir. “It was scary,” she says. However, she feels it was important to learn about her family’s roots so she could pass their stories on to her children.
Drake Incites Plastic Surgery Rumors After Flaunting Toned Physique
In a recent Instagram post, Drake was spotted flexing his muscles and flaunting his toned physique. Not long after, the post began circulating on social media. While many were trying to decipher his cryptic caption, “I’m wide awake for the nights that separate the type who get to it til they get it right from the type who just …type,” others questioned if the rapper had recently gone under the knife. “When you order abs in a kit on Temu but forget to add the arms to your cart,” one X user wrote. Another X user joined in on the fun, writing, “We really went from BBL Drizzy, to fake abs Drizzy, smh…” Drake speaks via IG “I’m wide awake for the nights that separate the type who get to it til they get it right from the type who just …type” pic.twitter.com/LsrzSaC0fa — Kurrco (@Kurrco) June 29, 2025 The jokes didn’t end there. “Did he glue those abs on?” someone commented on X. Whereas, another person questioned why the rapper would be interested in plastic surgery, especially with his variety of resources. “Infinite resources, infinite free time, and you’re telling me he can’t just work out and achieve a respectable physique….LMOOO,” they wrote. During the height of his beef with Kendrick Lamar, the Compton native alluded to him having abdominal etching (aka ab etching) on his “Euphoria” track.“Let your core audience stomach that/then tell ’em where you get your abs from,” Lamar raps. While Drake has never directly addressed the rumors, they have continued to grow in recent years. Along with abdominal work, the rapper has also been accused of getting a rhinoplasty and a brazillian butt lift by Rick Ross. The MMG boss ignited the “BBL Drizzy” commentary, and the subsequent song was created by Metro Boomin. The acclaimed producer eventually held a “BBLDrizzyBeatGiveaway,” where fans had a chance to win a beat from him for their best verse of the BBL Drizzy beat he created.
Beyoncé Has Frightening Encounter During Houston Show
During Beyoncé’s recent show in Houston, the Grammy Award-winning artist encountered a frightening moment when her flying car prop tilted in mid-air. The horrifying moment had been caught on camera by fans and later circulated online. In the clip, as Beyoncé makes her way through the crowd while performing her hit track, “16 Carriages,” aboard her flying car — which has become a popular segment throughout the show — things take a dark turn. It appears that one of the rigs holding up the vehicle had broken, which resulted in the car tilting in the air. Beyoncé can be heard shouting, “Stop!” before adding, “Bring me down.”Luckily, the singer was able to be brought down safely to continue the rest of her show. The Renaissance singer follows behind icons like Michael Jackson (No. 3), Aretha Franklin (No. 2), and Stevie Wonder (No. 1). The late, legendary, singer and diva, Whitney Houston, rounded out the group at No.5. The criteria for ranking included “vocal prowess, body of work, career longevity, industry achievements, game-changing influence, and enduring generational/cultural impact.” “Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century also happens to be one of the Best R&B Artists of All Time. In fact, it’s her dedication to her R&B foundation that has helped her become one of music’s most innovative, impactful, and impressive artists,” the outlet wrote. “The 35-time Grammy-winning Houstonian first hit the Billboard charts as the lead vocalist of Destiny’s Child, the girl group in which she honed her now-signature staccato rap-singing, a vocal approach that can be heard in virtually every contemporary R&B song today.” Other notable artists included in the list are: James Brown (No. 6), Prince (No. 7), Mariah Carey (No. 8), R. Kelly (No. 9), and Marvin Gaye (No. 10). Last December, Billboard crowned Queen Bey as the greatest pop star of the 21st century. The publication said she’s “the century’s biggest pop star based on her full 25 years of influence, evolution, and impact.”
Jeezy Recalls Giving Away His ‘Trap or Die’ Mixtape For Free
Jeezy said his grandmother would always tell him, “Don’t ask anybody for anything without giving them something first.” This wisdom helped to launch his iconic rap career. In a recent interview with Billboard, Jeezy is talking about the 20th anniversary of his classic album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, which was released on July 26th, 2005. During the process, he developed polyps in his throat and required surgery. With no insurance, he had to pay out of a brown paper bag of cash and took months to recover. “It humbled me and I remember not having insurance at the time,” he recalls to Billboard with a laugh. “Imagine that, I had insurance on my Ferrari and not [medical] insurance!” After all his hard work, the album leaked before its official release. Instead of looking at it as a setback, Jeezy saw it as a blessing in disguise “I knew that was designed to hurt me,” Jeezy explained. “That took the pressure off, because the world had heard the music. That was the promo.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by @jeezy When Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 finally dropped, the LP peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, selling 172,000 units in the first week. Standout tracks include “And Then What” featuring Mannie Fresh, “Soul Survivor” featuring Akon, “Go Crazy” and “My Hood.” Looking back, he’s amazed that 20 years have passed by so fast. “If there was nothing else in the world, no book or other mixtapes and albums to represent me, I think people can see who I am and my character, my moral compass, my integrity and everything I’m about in that one body of work,” he reflects. “That’s why I call it ‘the blueprint.’ That’s him, Jay ‘Jeezy’ Jenkins.”

Benzino Has Had ‘Enough’ Of Jim Jones Calling Out Nas
Benzino has had enough of Jim Jones calling out Nas and described those who agree with the Harlem rapper’s stance as “stupid idiots.” On Thursday (June 26), Benzino shared an Instagram video of himself addressing the Jones and Nas debacle noting that this issue is not “even a debate” to begin with. “Enough is enough,” Benzino said at the top of his lengthy Instagram video. “Like, enough is enough. Don’t y’all see what the fuck y’all doing?” Benzino also said that social media “is f**king us up as a people.” “Y’all are taking part in really ruining the legacy of this fucking man,” Benzino said of Nas. “This man has a whole fucking legacy. This Jim Jones Nas shit wasn’t even a debate. Okay, it’s cute at first but it’s getting out of control. It’s getting way too disrespectful and it’s gonna cause irreparable damage to the culture.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Benzino (@benzinothelegend) The Source co-founder’s comments come after Jones claimed that he has more Billboard hits than the QB legend. “My son can’t tell me one Nas record,” Jones said of Nas’ reach.. “There must be some type of misconception when it comes to Jim Jones and what Jim Jones has done in this game. A lot of these rappers have done a tremendous job. And I take nothing away from them. But they forget, I got a hell of a catalog. Gold records, platinum records. … Check my track record. Then check everybody else’s track record.” Recently, Jones said he was responsible for Nas going viral for the first time since his feud with JAY-Z. “What I did for Nas probably never been done for him in his life. He’s never been that viral at all. Ever,” Jones claimed. “Ever. He’s never been talked about like this ever in his life.”
Exclusive: King Combs Talks Ye Collaboration and the Power Behind ‘NEVER STOP’
In a rare pairing that bridges generations of hip-hop innovation, King Combs and Ye have delivered NEVER STOP—a surprise joint album that dropped today and instantly began sparking conversation. While the project’s tracklist remains tight-lipped with minimal promo, the music speaks volumes: textured beats, sharp flows, and a theme rooted in resilience. “I grew up on Ye’s music,” King Combs told me in an exclusive sit-down hours after the album’s release. “To be in the studio with him—watching how he operates—it reminded me of my pops. It was intense in the best way.” The collaborative process, he says, was not just creative but formative. “His energy felt familiar. Like watching greatness in motion.” Legacy and Drive Power ‘NEVER STOP’ Combs, who co-produced one of the album’s standout records, explained that working with Ye brought him back to the studio ethos he absorbed growing up. “We built the instrumental from scratch, and the way he pushed for perfection—it took me back to those early days around my father. That same hunger, that same obsession with detail.” Titled NEVER STOP, the project plays like a declaration. From its sonics to its sequencing, it’s rooted in a message of persistence. “That’s really the theme,” Combs said. “No matter what life throws at you, you’ve got to stay locked in and chase your dreams. This album is motivation.” With NEVER STOP, King Combs steps into his own light, while Ye remains one of the most unpredictable forces in music. Together, they’ve created something that feels urgent, spiritual, and undeniably hip-hop. For fans, this isn’t just an album drop—it’s a statement.
50 Cent Deletes Post Offering To Paying NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani To Leave NY
In a now-deleted social media post, 50 Cent fired back at the NY mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, after he named him in an interview amid a discussion of his tax plan for the city’s top one percent. “We’re talking about people who make a million dollars a year or more, taxing them just by a flat two percent tax increase,” Mamdani said in an interview a few weeks back. “I know if 50 Cent is listening, he’s not going to be happy about this. He tends not to like this tax policy, but I want to be very clear, this is about $20,000 a year.” After Mamdani’s interview made its rounds online, 50 Cent eventually caught wind of his comments, firing back with a now-deleted IG post that contained a clip from Mamdani’s interview, writing, “Where did he come from? Whose friend is this? I’m not feeling this plan. No. I will give him $258,750 and a first-class one-way ticket away from NY.” He added, “I’m telling [President] Trump what he said, too!” It is unclear why the rapper deleted his post, especially given his history of trolling others online. Nevertheless, the post has disappeared. 50 Cent name-drops NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani and offers him cash to leave: “I’m not feeling this plan. In 2024, 50 played a leading role alongside Mel Gibson in the movie Boneyard. Other notable acting roles include Righteous Kill, Escape Plan, Southpaw, and his autobiographical debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Additionally, the mogul has been expanding his film enterprise by making his TV channel, 50 Cent Action, available in the United Kingdom.
